About the Forge Hard Knocks Forge is a working blacksmith shop that creates both functional and artistic metal objects. Each item is hand crafted and considered "one of a kind." Each piece has its own character. While they may look a like, each piece is different. Everything is made by hand. Each item is hand forged or crafted using both traditional and modern metal working methods. Many of the tools found in my shop date back to the early 1900's. Most of them are considered antiques. My favorite blower was purchased from Paul Taylor. It belonged to his grandfather who made a living as a blacksmith in the oil fields in the Texas Panhandle. Our goal is to demonstrate the skills required for traditional blacksmithing. I will do my best to produce a quality product that will provide years of aesthetic and useful service Many hours have been spent learning the trade. I have attended classes taught by Master Blacksmiths. I'm thankful for the opportunity to learn from the great people like Chuck Stone, James Ryan, Terry Farquhar, and the members of the North Texas Blacksmith Association. A special thanks to Bob Wilson for his guidance and encouragement. Come visit me at the Hickory Creek Folk Art & Music Festival June 11, 2005 at Arrowhead Park in Hickory Creek, Texas.
